Reseña – review: Marble «S.A.V.E»

Marble es una banda italiana de metal progresivo que nos trae su disco “S.A.V.E” a través de Sliptrick Records y que sale a la venta el 16 de Febrero. El disco ha sido grabado en los estudios Marble Workshop de Daniel Fleba, bajista del grupo, para ser posteriormente mezclado y masterizado por Giulio Capone (Moonlight Haze). El concepto del disco se basa en el comportamiento humano y como se entrelazan con las tres virtudes y los siete pecados capitales en un ambiente lúgubre y decadente. La portada ha sido realizada por Jan “Orkki” Yrlund. En una primera escucha, el grupo me recuerda al grupo americano Evanescence, donde los riffs potentes de guitarras y ritmos pesados se alternan con partes más melódicas con coros melódicos. El problema de este álbum es que me resulta un tanto monótono, donde hay buenos temas, pero estructuralmente se van repitiendo y acaba siendo algo pesado de escuchar.
Hay temas como “Mine”, un tema potente y progresivo para iniciar el disco, «Heartless Disease» sigue la misma línea pero con un poco más de presencia del teclado o “To Feed The Worms” con buenas guitarras y una batería atronadora. O el tema “Silver Coins” con la colaboración de Maurizio Caverzan (In-Sight) que alterna con Eleanora dando un toque que me recuerda a Crematory. En el tema “A Darker Shade Of Me” donde le acompaña en el tema un cuarteto de cuerda dirigido por la Maestra Barbara Rubin y el Maestro Francesco Bossoni, tema muy preciosista. “Where Is The Light”, es un tema complejo, algo oscuro, con voces guturales y un buen solo de guitarra. Pero en cambio tenemos temas como “What Leads Us To”, a pesar de tener buen ritmo, «Timeless» o “Daymare Town” que aunque el solo de guitarra es lo más destacable, no me dicen nada, temas hasta predecibles en las escuchas reiteradas del disco. O la canción instrumental que cierra el disco, “Sins And Virtues Ending”, que para mi está de sobra.
Ojo, reconociendo que el disco no está exento de calidad por parte de sus integrantes, y que gustará a todos los amantes del metal progresivo e incluso a quien le guste cualquier tipo de metal con voz femenina al frente, si tengo que decir que la voz de Eleanora no está explotada en todos sus matices, y a mi personalmente el disco me ha resultado algo tedioso. Marble is an Italian progressive metal band that brings us their album «S.A.V.E» via Sliptrick Records and out on February 16. The album has been recorded at the Marble Workshop studios by Daniel Fleba, bassist of the group, to be later mixed and mastered by Giulio Capone (Moonlight Haze). The concept of the album is based on human behavior and how they intertwine with the three virtues and the seven deadly sins in a gloomy and decadent environment. The cover was done by Jan “Orkki” Yrlund. In a first listen, the group reminds me of the American group Evanescence, where the powerful riffs of guitars and heavy rhythms alternate with more melodic parts with melodic choruses. The problem with this album is that I find it a bit monotonous, where there are good songs, but structurally they are repeated and it ends up being something heavy to listen to.
There are songs like «Mine», a powerful and progressive theme to start the album, «Heartless Disease» follows the same line but with a little more keyboard presence or «To Feed The Worms» with good guitars and a thunderous drums. Or the song “Silver Coins” with the collaboration of Maurizio Caverzan (In Sight) who alternates with Eleanora giving a touch that reminds me of Crematory. On the song “A Darker Shade Of Me” where he is accompanied on the song by a string quartet directed by Master Barbara Rubin and Master Francesco Bossoni, a very precious song. «Where Is The Light» is a complex track, somewhat dark, with throaty voices and a good guitar solo. But instead we have songs like “What Leads Us To”, despite having a good rhythm, “Timeless” or “Daymare Town” that although the guitar solo is the most remarkable thing, they don’t tell me anything, even predictable themes in listening repeated from the disc. Or the instrumental song that closes the album, «Sins And Virtues Ending», which for me is plenty.
Be careful, recognizing that the album is not without quality on the part of its members, and that it will appeal to all lovers of progressive metal and even those who like any type of metal with a female voice at the front, if I have to say that the voice by Eleanora is not exploited in all its nuances, and personally the album has been somewhat tedious for me.
