[Reseña] Bienvenidos a la fiesta pagana de Feuerschwanz con “Memento Mori”

Feuerschwanz, grupo alemán de folk metal, nos trae su nueva entrega vía Napalm Records titulada “Memento Mori”. Y es que desde que esta banda formada allá por 2005 firmase por este sello, su música se ha vuelto más contundente y limpia, realizando un folk metal agresivo a la par de divertido que hace las delicias del oyente pasando el disco en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. En su anterior entrega “Das Elfte Gebot” ya despuntaron con un disco de calidad superior (algoderock.com/resena-das-elfte-gebot-el-nuevo-disco-de-feuerschwanz) que le llevaron a una amplia expectativa de una gira europea entorpecida por esta maldita pandemia, así que Hauptmann se metió en el estudio y se puso manos a la obra continuando con este disco la calidad atesorada en la anterior entrega saliendo a la venta el 30 de Diciembre.

El disco se inicia con el tema “Memento Mori” tema donde el hilo melodioso del violín es acompañado por una base de guitarras y batería contundente, con un estribillo conciso y un ritmo de canción trepidante. “Untot im Drachenboot” tema folk power con unos coros súper pegadizos que continúa la estela de su antecesora, me encanta el grito metalero que aparece al inicio del tema. “Ultima Nocte” es un tema power que podía haber firmado perfectamente Powerwolf, tanto en la estructura del tema como en los coros. “Rausch der Barbarei” es uno de los temas más pesados del disco con mezclas de ritmos folk y ritmos orientales donde se nota perfectamente la colaboración de Hamatom en el uso de las voces. “Krampus” está inspirado en un tema del folclore de Europa central y oriental que habla de este personaje que podría ser el equivalente al “hombre del saco” que se lleva a los niños que se portan mal, tema resultón. “Feuer and Schwert” sigue la estela de los primeros temas, ya que la base power le da esa determinación contundente a la par de dinámica. ”Das Herz eines Drachen” es la balada del disco con un elemento folk, en la que los instrumentos se funden de manera delicada para darle un final contundente que les hace finiquitar un tema redondo. “Rohirrim” es un tema epic power donde las flautas y el violín les da una dimensión como de historia de guerra, recordándote a películas como “Willow” o “Conan”. “Am Galgen” es un tema donde tiene para mí los mejores coros del disco siguiendo el ritmo del violín y flautas los cánticos del grupo, y el uso de “tambores de guerra” en algunas partes del tema. “Hannibal” es otro tema que se aproxima a la manufactura de sus compatriotas Powerwolf con un estribillo demoledor, hay que reconocer que el trabajo de Johanna durante todo el disco es espectacular marcándose un solo de violín previo al solo de guitarra espectacular. “Skaldenmet” es un tema algo más pesado, con pinceladas épicas y elementos orientales que le pone fin a este disco de 40 minutos de duración. Como curiosidad este mismo disco goza de una edición de lujo de 3 cds en la que el segundo de ellos aparecen versiones de temas de Amon Amarth, Manowar o el tema de O-zone “dragostea Din Tei” realizando una versión lúdico festiva cachondisima. El tercer CD está compuesto de la versión instrumental del primer disco.

Definitivamente estamos ante el mejor disco de Folk metal del año pasado y posiblemente de este año, con unas ganas inmensas de poder verlos en directo. Gracias por darnos un disco tan alegre en estos momentos tan convulsos. Un saludo.

Feuerschwanz, German folk metal group, brings us their new release via Napalm Records entitled “Memento Mori”. The album begins with the song “Memento Mori”, a song where the melodious thread of the violin is accompanied by a base of guitars and forceful drums, with a concise chorus and a fast-paced song rhythm. “Untot im Drachenboot” folk power song with super catchy choirs that continues in the wake of its predecessor, I love the metal scream that appears at the beginning of the song. “Ultima Nocte” is a power song that could have perfectly signed Powerwolf, both in the song’s structure and in the choruses. “Rausch der Barbarei” is one of the heaviest songs on the album with mixtures of folk rhythms and oriental rhythms where Hamatom’s collaboration in the use of voices is perfectly noticeable. “Krampus” is inspired by a central and eastern European folklore theme that talks about this character that could be the equivalent of the “bogeyman” who takes away children who misbehave, a great theme. “Feuer and Schwert” follows in the footsteps of the first songs, since the power base gives it that forceful determination coupled with dynamics. ”Das Herz eines Drachen” is the ballad of the album with a folk element, in which the instruments merge delicately to give it a forceful ending that makes them finish off a well-rounded song. “Rohirrim” is an epic power theme where the flutes and the violin give them a dimension like a war story, reminding you of movies like “Willow” or “Conan”. “Am Galgen” is a song where, for me, it has the best choirs on the album, following the rhythm of the violin and flutes, the songs of the group, and the use of “war drums” in some parts of the song. “Hannibal” is another song that comes close to the manufacture of his compatriots Powerwolf with a devastating chorus, it must be recognized that Johanna’s work throughout the album is spectacular, scoring a violin solo prior to the spectacular guitar solo. “Skaldenmet” is a somewhat heavier song, with epic brushstrokes and oriental elements that puts an end to this 40-minute long album.
