[Reseña] Feuerschwanz va a toda máquina con su nuevo disco “Fegefeuer”

La formación alemana de folk metal que inició sus andanzas allá por el 2004 ha realizado una evolución sorprendente en su sonido, pasando de un rock cómico medieval a la propuesta actual que nos lleva brindando de la mano de Napalm Records, temas Power con un sonido realmente endurecido en sus guitarras y la integración de los distintos instrumentos clásicos del folk dando un disco que le hace justicia al género. En esta última entrega titulada “Fegefeuer” tenemos un paso más donde los sonidos se hacen más duros y los instrumentos folk (violín, zanfoña) emiten sonidos mucho más incisivos abandonando su lado más Happy.

El disco se inicia con el tema “SGFRD Dragonslayer” que nos narra la famosa historia del cazador de dragones que se baña en la sangre de su presa volviéndose invencible, la temática claramente se amolda a los mundos fantasiosos de dragones y mazmorras, musicalmente es un tema Power con una compenetración total de guitarra y violín. “Bastard con Asgard ( feat. Fabienne Erni)” es un tema cuyo intro recuerda a Iron Maiden, buen trabajo vocal de Hauptmann que secundado por su compañero Metzner y la voz inconfundible de Erni lo hace un tema de lo más colorido.

“Bezerkermode” es un tema que destaca por guitarras pesadas y el sonido de gaitas y violín que recrea un tema cuyos coros hacen que no puedas parar de saltar. “Knochenkarrussell” es un tema que destaca por el ritmo acabalgado tan típico del Power acompañado por el violín dando un tema muy resultón. “Fegefeuer” es el mejor tema del disco, zanfoña en su inicio acompañada magistralmente por la batería de Rollo dando un mediotiempo de tintes pesados para dar a continuación un cambio de ritmo acompañado por violín en su zona de estribillo en un equilibrio simplemente perfecto. “Die Horde” se acerca a su etapa más Happy con un tema que invita a saltar desde el minuto uno y con unos solos que nos acercan irremediablemente a Rapsodhy of Fire. “Uruk-Hai” vuelve a ese sonido más pesado, por un momento en su inicio me recuerda a sus compatriotas Rammstein con un buen trabajo instrumental en la parte del punteo. “Highlander” volvemos al tema frenético de folk metal con ese toque power y la zanfoña a toda pastilla. “Morrigan” me encanta el riffs de guitarra de inicio acompañado de la gaita dando un sonido muy chulo. “Eis and Feuer” es un tema que repite el patrón de sus antecesoras y que para mí pasa sin pena ni gloria . Ocurre lo mismo con “Valkyren” me gusta por ese medio tiempo hablado dándole un tono hipnótico a la canción poniendo punto y final al disco.

Definitivamente este disco refuerza la dirección tomada por esta formación con un folk metal contundente que junto a una buena producción lo hace candidato a uno de los discos del año, para mi hubiera quitado algún tema para no hacerse a lo mejor repetitivo en la temática. Tengo que decir que el disco que he tenido el placer de escuchar contiene un CD extra de una actuación en directo de la banda que suena como un auténtico cañonazo haciendo aumentar las ganas de verlos en directo, una auténtica joya. The German folk metal formation that began its adventures back in 2004 has made a surprising evolution in its sound, going from a medieval comedy rock to the current proposal that leads us offering, through Napalm Records, Power songs with a really hardened in his guitars and the integration of the different classical folk instruments giving a record that does justice to the genre. In this latest installment entitled “Fegefeuer” we have one more step where the sounds become harder and the folk instruments (violin, hurdy-gurdy) emit much more incisive sounds, abandoning their happier side.

The album begins with the song “SGFRD Dragonslayer” that tells us the famous story of the dragon hunter who bathes in the blood of his prey, becoming invincible, the theme clearly fits the fantasy worlds of dragons and dungeons, musically it is a Power theme with a total rapport of guitar and violin. “Bastard con Asgard (feat. Fabienne Erni)” is a song whose intro is reminiscent of Iron Maiden, Hauptmann’s good vocal work seconded by his partner Metzner and Erni’s unmistakable voice makes it a most colorful song.

“Bezerkermode” is a song that stands out for its heavy guitars and the sound of bagpipes and violin that recreates a song whose choruses make you unable to stop jumping. “Knochenkarrussell” is a song that stands out for the riding rhythm so typical of Power accompanied by the violin giving a very successful song. “Fegefeuer” is the best song on the album, a hurdy-gurdy at the beginning masterfully accompanied by Rollo’s drums giving a half-tempo with heavy overtones to then give a change of pace accompanied by violin in its chorus area in a simply perfect balance. “Die Horde” approaches its happiest stage with a song that invites you to jump from minute one and with some solos that inevitably bring us closer to Rapsodhy of Fire. “Uruk-Hai” returns to that heavier sound, for a moment at the beginning it reminds me of his compatriots Rammstein with a good instrumental work in the plucking part. “Highlander” we return to the frenetic folk metal theme with that touch of power and the hurdy-gurdy at full throttle. “Morrigan” I love the initial guitar riffs accompanied by the bagpipes giving a very cool sound. “Eis and Feuer” is a song that repeats the pattern of its predecessors and that for me passes without pain or glory. The same thing happens with “Valkyren” I like it for that half-time spoken giving a hypnotic tone to the song putting an end to the album.

Definitely this album reinforces the direction taken by this formation with a forceful folk metal that together with a good production makes it a candidate for one of the albums of the year, for me I would have removed some song so as not to become repetitive in the theme. I have to say that the album that I have had the pleasure of listening to contains a bonus CD of a live performance by the band that sounds like a real cannon shot making you want to see them live, a real gem.
