[Reseña] Reveal “Still Alive” – Hevia da un paso adelante con su banda Reveal

Nos toca realizar la revisión del proyecto de Tino Hevia con su banda Reveal ya que el 3 de Noviembre tenemos el placer del estreno de su tercer disco titulado “Still Alive”. Las impresiones que me lleve de su anterior entrega titulada “Overlord” fueron gratas ya que se perfiló como un disco de Power metal de corte europeo y con melodías que enganchan y buenos arreglos de teclados. Para esta tercera entrega, Hevia sigue contando con el afamado vocalista Rob Lundgraen (200000 seguidores en Youtube), y para mi sorpresa en la primera escucha me encuentro con un disco atrevido, experimental, con una conjunción de estilos que van desde el heavy Power de finales de los 80, AOR con pinceladas de thrash, y porqué no decirlo es un disco que no entra a la primera.

El disco comienza con el tema “You’re Still Alive”, nada más en el inicio se observa el sonido más endurecido, menos melódico, con unos teclados que se encargan de la parte más melódica y batería muy machacona. A continuación tenemos el tema “Page by Page” donde en su inicio lleva las andadas del tema anterior, con algún guiño thrash y un estribillo a medio tiempo de lo más melódico y pegadizo. “Dragon Reborn” tiene un inicio con un teclado de sonido electrónico y que crea una atmósfera envolvente en el inicio del tema para facturar un buen tema de Power metal. “The Crow” es un tema Power a toda pastilla con buenos teclados y un estribillo super pegadizo. “World Full of Wonders” sigue el hilo de su antecesora solo que este tema se mueve más en el medio tiempo. “Metal Messiahs” es un tema de Power ochentero que lo puede firmar Judas (de hecho canta Ripper Owens) o incluso Pantera en su disco “Power Metal”, sonido más endurecido y voz más incisiva. ”Sea of Líes” comienza con una intro del bajo que nos da un tema que se puede englobar en el new metal y que destaca nuevamente los teclados. “Not Look Back” es un tema que podríamos englobar en hard rock americano y que da como un respiro en el disco. “The Man Without Fear” es un tema Power progresivo donde alternan ritmos más melódicos con riffs más duros y varios cambios de ritmo, mención especial al trabajo de guitarra.

Definitivamente estamos ante un disco en el que Hevia ha querido dar un paso más allá, el querer salir de una dinámica en la que puede que se hubiera visto en los 2 primeros discos. El disco en sí sorprende, para bien o para mal, y si recomiendo darle varias escuchas ya que a primera impresión no es un disco que tenga fácil escucha. A mí me ha gustado, un punto positivo es que me encanta el trabajo de los teclados durante todo el disco, como punto negativo me parece horrible el sonido de caja de la batería. Por lo demás, darle la enhorabuena. Un saludo.

We have to review Tino Hevia’s project with his band Reveal since on November 3 we have the pleasure of the premiere of his third album titled “Still Alive”. The impressions I got from their previous release titled “Overlord” were pleasant since it emerged as a European-style power metal album with engaging melodies and good keyboard arrangements. For this third installment, Hevia still has the famous vocalist Rob Lundgraen (200,000 followers on YouTube), and to my surprise on the first listen I find a daring, experimental album, with a conjunction of styles ranging from heavy Power from the late 80s, AOR with touches of trash, and why not say it is an album that doesn’t fit on the first try.

The album begins with the song “You’re Still Alive”, just at the beginning you can see the more hardened, less melodic sound, with keyboards that are in charge of the most melodic part and very pounding drums. Next we have the song “Page by Page” where at the beginning it takes the same steps as the previous song, with some trashy nods and a very melodic and catchy mid-tempo chorus. “Dragon Reborn” begins with an electronic sound keyboard that creates an enveloping atmosphere at the beginning of the song to create a good Power metal song. “The Crow” is a full-throttle Power song with good keyboards and a super catchy chorus. “World Full of Wonders” follows the thread of its predecessor, only this song moves more at halftime. “Metal Messiahs” is an eighties Power song that could be signed by Judas (actually sings Ripper Owens) or even Pantera on their album “Power Metal”, with a harder sound and more incisive voice. “Sea of Líes” begins with a bass intro that gives us a song that can be included in new metal and that once again highlights the keyboards. “Not Look Back” is a song that we could classify as American hard rock and that gives a breather to the album. “The Man Without Fear” is a progressive Power song where more melodic rhythms alternate with harder riffs and several changes of rhythm, special mention to the guitar work.

We are definitely facing an album in which Hevia wanted to take a step further, wanting to get out of a dynamic that may have been seen in the first 2 albums. The album itself is surprising, for better or worse, and I do recommend giving it several listens since at first impression it is not an album that is easy to listen to. I liked it, a positive point is that I love the work of the keyboards throughout the album, as a negative point I think the drum snare sound is horrible. For the rest, congratulations. All the best.
