Presentar a estas alturas a la banda holandesa Asphyx esta fuera de lugar, sobretodo a los seguidores del metal extremo, ya que es una banda referente del Deaht Metal en nuestro continente. Y es que en época de pandemia se agradece de que las bandas se animen a publicar sus trabajos. Asphyx nos trae su décimo álbum a través de Century Media Records llamado “Necroceros”, el álbum fue grabado en Tom Meier Studio y en The Morser Studio de Paul Maayens, mezclado y masterizado por Sebastian “Seeb” Levermanm (Orden Ogan) en Greenman Studios; para la portada han contado con la colaboración de Axel Hermann.

Qué vamos a encontrar en este álbum, pues un álbum de Death Metal con retazo de Doom, pero dándole una vuelta de tuerca introduciendo elementos de Trash e incluso progresivo. En el primer tema “The Sole Cure is Death” es un tema de Death de vieja escuela alternando esos cambios de ritmo habituales en la banda, brutal. En el tema “Molten Black Earth” alterna elementos Doom con elementos Death en perfecta armonía, creando una atmósfera opresiva acojonante. En el tema “Mount Skull” tenemos otro tema marca de la casa alternando Doom con Death. En “Knights Templar Stand” tenemos de nuevo un tema Doom donde le Dan un punto más de velocidad con algún guiño Trash en el tema. En la siguiente “Three Years of Famine” estamos de nuevo ante un tema Doom con un pasaje de guitarra en la parte central del tema que se fusiona perfectamente con el tema. Sigue “Botox Implosion”, intro batería, carcajada y a correr, un tiro de tema Death. En el tema “En el tema “In Blazing Oceans” tiene un juego de guitarras guapísimo donde Paul Maayens tiene toda la culpa. En el tema “The Nameless Elite” Death de vieja escuela. En “Yield or Die” tenemos un tema donde realizan riffs que me recuerdan a Judas de finales de los 80 con guiños Trash, me gusta mucho este tema. Para acabar el disco tenemos el tema “Necroceros”, tema que hace honor a su nombre, tema deprimente, con olor a muerte, atmósfera agobiante, guitarras pesadas, buen tema para finalizar.

Da gusto ver como un grupo de Death que lleva 30 años en el candelero, evoluciona y le va dando una vuelta de tuerca a cada disco con el fin de innovar y dotar a sus discos de esos matices que los hace únicos. Buen disco

Presenting at this point the Dutch band Asphyx is out of place, especially to the followers of extreme metal, since it is a reference band of Deaht Metal in our continent. And it is that in times of pandemic it is appreciated that the bands are encouraged to publish their work. Asphyx brings us their tenth album through Century Media called “Necroceros”, the album was recorded at Tom Meier Studio and Paul Maayens’ The Morser Studio, mixed and mastered by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermanm (Ogan Order) at Greenman Studios; for the cover they have had the collaboration of Axel Hermann. 

What are we going to find in this album, well, a Death Metal album with a piece of Doom, but giving it a twist by introducing Trash elements and even progressive. In the first song “The Sole Cure is Death” is an old school Death theme alternating those changes of rhythm usual in the band, brutal. In the song “Molten Black Earth” he alternates Doom elements with Death elements in perfect harmony, creating an oppressive, hideous atmosphere. On the song “Mount Skull” we have another house brand song alternating Doom with Death. In “Knights Templar Stand” we have again a Doom song where they give it one more point of speed with some Trash nod to the song. In the next “Three Years of Famine” we are again facing a Doom song with a guitar passage in the central part of the song that blends perfectly with the song. Follow “Botox Implosion”, drum intro, laugh and run, a shot of Death theme. In the song “In the song“ In Blazing Oceans ”he has a very handsome guitar set where Paul Maayens is all to blame. On the song “The Nameless Elite” Old school Death. In “Yield or Die” we have a song where they perform riffs that remind me of Judas from the late 80’s with Trash winks, I really like this song. To finish the album we have the song “Necroceros”, a song that lives up to its name, a depressing song, with the smell of death, oppressive atmosphere, heavy guitars, a good song to finish.

It is nice to see how a Death group that has been in the limelight for 30 years, evolves and gives each album a twist in order to innovate and give their albums those nuances that make them unique. Good album.
