Esta reseña va especialmente dedicada a todos esos cuarentañeros que nos sentimos y hacemos las mismas cosas que cuando teníamos 20 (a pesar de esos nuevos dolores de espalda, etc), incluyendo escuchar la misma música que entonces e ir a ver a los mismos grupos en concierto.

Y es que The Bouncing Souls acaban de publicar nuevo disco.

Pero en realidad el nuevo disco de Bouncing Souls no es un nuevo disco. O sí. O al menos, no es el tipo de disco al que nos tienen acostumbrados. No, el nuevo disco es uno en el que re interpretan sus temas más clásicos en versión acústica.

Y os digo: les ha quedado increíble. Ahí tenemos todos esos clásicos de la banda en su nuevo trabajo bajo el nombre de “Volume 2”, algo que por lo visto surgió  como idea antes de la gira de 30 aniversario de la banda en 2019, y que poco a poco fue haciéndose realidad, hasta llegar a lo que nos presentaron hace escasos días.

11 temas han incluido, comenzando con “Argyle” y terminando con la que ya en su época fue una balada “Ghosts of the Boardwalk”.

Y es que, a pesar de tanta caña, de melodías rápidas y de esa energía que transmiten los grupos de punk rock y hardcore, a veces también necesitamos un poco de tranquilidad y “ñoñería” (en el buen sentido).

Los de New Jersey han elegido un set perfecto, sin fisuras, tal vez se eche de menos algún tema pero en mi opinión les ha quedado un disco completo y precioso, lleno de sensibilidad y nostalgia.

Uno de los puntos fuertes del disco es la maravillosa y conocidísima por los amantes del género, “Gone”, que a pesar de ser imposible de mejorar, casi (he dicho casi) lo consiguen con esta nueva versión.

En fin, un disco perfecto para escuchar y disfrutar tanto una tarde lluviosa de domingo en casa, como un día soleado de verano en un chiringuito de playa. ¿O acaso no os imagináis con una bebida fría oyendo esas preciosidades de “Kids and Heroes”, “Highway Kings” o “Say anything”  mientras miráis el mar o el sol de una tarde de verano baña vuestro rostro?

This review is especially dedicated to all those forty-somethings who feel and do the same things as when we were 20 (despite those new back pain, etc), including listening to the same music as then and going to see the same groups in concert.

And is that The Bouncing Souls have just released a new album.

But actually the new Bouncing Souls album is not a new album. Or is it?. Or at least, it is not the type of album we are used to. No, the new album is one in which they reinterpret their most classic songs in an acoustic version.

And I tell you: they have been incredible. There we have all those classics of the band in their new work under the name of “Volume 2”, something that apparently came as an idea before the 30th anniversary tour of the band in 2019, and that little by little was becoming reality , until we reached what they presented to us a few days ago.

11 songs have been included, starting with “Argyle” and ending with what was already a ballad “Ghosts of the Boardwalk” in its time.

And the fact is that, despite so much cane, fast melodies and that energy that punk rock and hardcore groups transmit, sometimes we also need a bit of tranquility and “nerdiness” (in a good way).

Those from New Jersey have chosen a perfect set, seamless, maybe they miss a song but in my opinion they have left a complete and beautiful album, full of sensitivity and nostalgia.

One of the strengths of the album is the wonderful and well-known by fans of the genre, “Gone”, which despite being impossible to improve, almost (I said almost) they achieve it with this new version.

In short, a perfect album to listen to and enjoy both a rainy Sunday afternoon at home, and a sunny summer day at a beach bar. Or do you not imagine yourself with a cold drink listening to those beauties of “Kids and Heroes”, “Highway Kings”or “Say anything” while you watch the sea or the sun of a summer afternoon bathes your face?
