Thyrant es una banda malagueña que independientemente del gusto musical del metalero que permanece a la escucha, rebosan calidad técnica por todos los poros. Y es que ya en 2017 sorprendieron con su primer disco “What We Left Behind” donde prevaleció un Doom Death donde ya daban cuenta de su calidad. Y es que aparte de intentar poner etiquetas, en este segundo trabajo “Katabasis” tenemos desde un Death melódico, a Doom, Trash, Groove e incluso ramalazo de Black. Este disco ha sido distribuido por Indierecordings. Y es que en la escucha de sus discos se ven influencias de grupos como Opeth o Sentenced. En este disco conceptual habla de como es tener ese sentimiento de estar perdido para resurgir con rabia y nuevos bríos. 

Desgranando el disco, este comienza por el tema “Face the Thyrant” de 8 minutos donde en un medio tiempo la canción mantiene un estilo Groove von partes más melódicas, envolviendo todo en una atmósfera envolvente. En “Dunes of Desolation” tenemos un tema puramente Trash recordándome a Ángelus Apátrida, batería intensa acompañada de riffs de guitarra brutales. “Chapter I: Shipwreck” es un interludio Instrumental donde guitarra acústica y eléctrica se entrelazan para presentar el siguiente tema. “Black Ocean”, tema pesado en donde me recuerda a Sentenced o Abbath y donde se alterna un Doom con momentos de Groove, me gusta el ritmo de guitarra que acompaña a todo el tema. “Chapter II:Hopeless” es otro interludio Instrumental donde me recuerda a los grupos británicos Heavy de los 80. A continuación entra como un tiro “Ephemeral Lighthouse” en el más puro estilo Black Death para ir alternando con partes más pausadas, de los mejores temas del álbum, en las partes más lentas las guitarras realizan ritmos y puntos muy bien definidos, dando descanso auditivo de las partes más rápidas. “Chapter III:Descent” es otro interludio pesado, oscuro y para mí con excesiva duración, la sensación claustrofobia y axficiante del tema acaba por hacerse muy largo. “” comienza el tema en un estilo progresivo setentero total que a mi me recuerdan a los actuales Flowers Kings, para a continuación ir combinando elementos Groove, Doom con ramalazo Death, otro temazo. 

Thyrant en este segundo disco quería alcanzar el mercado internacional y la madurez que demuestran en su trabajo, hace que se le puedan poner muy pocas pegas a este disco. Un abrazo.

Thyrant is a band from Malaga that, regardless of the musical taste of the metalhead who remains listening, oozes technical quality from every pore. And it is that apart from trying to put labels, in this second album “Katabasis” we have from a melodic Death, to Doom, Trash, Groove and even a streak of Black. This album has been distributed by Indierecordings. And the thing is that when listening to their albums you can see influences from groups like Opeth or Sentenced. In this conceptual album he talks about what it is like to have that feeling of being lost to resurface with rage and new courage.

Unraveling the album, it begins with the 8-minute song “Face the Thyrant” where at half time the song maintains a Groove style with more melodic parts, wrapping everything in an enveloping atmosphere. In “Dunes of Desolation” we have a purely Trash theme reminding me of Angelus Stateless, intense drums accompanied by brutal guitar riffs. “Chapter I: Shipwreck” is an Instrumental interlude where acoustic and electric guitar intertwine to present the next song. “Black Ocean”, heavy track where it reminds me of Sentenced or Abbath and where Doom alternates with moments of Groove, I like the guitar rhythm that accompanies the whole song. “Chapter II: Hopeless” is another Instrumental interlude where it reminds me of the British Heavy bands of the 80’s. Then “Ephemeral Lighthouse” comes in as a shot in the purest Black Death style to alternate with slower parts, some of the best The songs of the album, in the slower parts the guitars perform very well defined rhythms and points, giving aural rest to the faster parts. “Chapter III: Descent” is another heavy, dark interlude and for me with excessive duration, the claustrophobic and exhausting feeling of the song ends up becoming very long. “” Begins the song in a total seventies progressive style that reminds me of the current Flowers Kings, to then go combining elements Groove, Doom with Death streak, another great song.

In this second album, Thyrant wanted to reach the international market and the maturity they show in their work means that very few objections can be made to this album. A hug
