Review: Rhapsody Of Fire “Glory For Salvation”

Corría el año 97 cuando un trío de ases debutaba con su formación extinta Rhapsody con un disco que marcaba un hito en el Power metal marcando un estilo para las legiones venideras llamado epic symphonic metal y que se manifestaba con el nombre de “Legendary Tales”. El trío de ases llamado Luca Turilli, monstruo de las 6 cuerdas, Alex Staropoli, maestro de los teclados y encargado de las partes más sinfónicas del disco, y por último Fabio Lione, una de las mejores voces del metal actual. Por fortuna o por desgracia, y después de varias peripecias como cambiarse el nombre por problemas legales a Rhapsody of Fire, el grupo se separa dando por separado muy buenos discos con sus distintos proyectos quedándose Alex con el carro de Rhapsody of Fire.

El pasado 26 de Noviembre ve la luz vía AFM el disco “Glory for Salvation”, continuación del anterior “The Eight Mountain” compuesto íntegramente por Alex y el segundo álbum con el excelente vocalista Giacomo Voli. El disco refleja fielmente el espíritu de Alex, muchísimo teclado, partes sinfónicas, muy buenos coros y la voz de Giacomo que se acopla como anillo al dedo en cada tema.

Cabe destacar temas como “The Kingdom of Ice”, “Glory for Salvation” con una base Power que nos recuerda a los inicios de la banda. No podía faltar la canción del bardo donde Alex disfruta de lo lindo titulada “Terial The Hawk”. “Chains of Destiny” con la batería a doble bombo que acompaña a los coros en el estribillo. Y como curiosidad la balada épica cantada en italiano y nuevamente en español.

Definitivamente nos encontramos ante un disco que hace las delicias de los seguidores de la banda, no vamos a encontrar nada novedoso en él. Para mí gusto es un disco que gusta pero notas que le falta algo que hace que no acabe de engancharte. Un saludo.

It was the year 97 when a trio of aces debuted with their extinct formation Rhapsody with an album that marked a milestone in Power metal, marking a style for the legions to come called epic symphonic metal and that manifested itself under the name of “Legendary Tales”. The trio of aces called Luca Turilli, monster of the 6 strings, Alex Staropoli, master of the keyboards and in charge of the most symphonic parts of the album, and finally Fabio Lione, one of the best voices in current metal. Fortunately or unfortunately, and after several incidents such as changing the name due to legal problems to Rhapsody of Fire, the group separated, giving very good albums with their different projects, Alex staying with the Rhapsody of Fire.

On November 26th the album “Glory for Salvation” was released via AFM, a continuation of the previous “The Eight Mountain” composed entirely by Alex and the second album with the excellent vocalist Giacomo Voli. The album faithfully reflects Alex’s spirit, lots of keyboards, symphonic parts, very good choruses and Giacomo’s voice that fits like a glove on each song.

It is worth highlighting songs like “The Kingdom of Ice”, “Glory for Salvation” or “Maid of the Secret Sand” with a Power base that reminds us of the early days of the band. He could not miss the song of the bard where Alex enjoys the beautiful entitled “Terial The Hawk”. “Chains of Destiny” with double bass drums accompanying the chorus on the chorus. And as a curiosity the epic ballad sung in Italian and again in Spanish.

We are definitely facing an album that delights the fans of the band, we will not find anything new in it. For me it is an album that I like but you notice that something is missing that makes you not quite hooked. All the best.
