Red Cain es un grupo de metal progresivo afincado en Calgary (Canadá) y que iniciaron  su andadura en 2016 sacando su primer larga duración en 2019 con el título “Kindred:  Act I”, disco laureado por la crítica. Sus influencias van desde Kamelot, Gojira, After  Bridge e incluso Depeche Mode. 

El CD que nos toca reseñar es su segundo trabajo Kindred: Act II que saldrá a la venta  el 22 de Enero del 2021 bajo el auspicio de Sliptrick Records y que aparece como  continuación del disco anterior. Este disco en una primera escucha se denota un buen  trabajo de batería, teclados sintetizadores y ligeros toques groove en algunas canciones. No obstante es un disco que se torna obscuro y en una primera escucha me resulta monótono, en escuchas sucesivas se van descubriendo matices.

Así en el  primer tema “Kindred” suena teclados con pinceladas Power que me recuerda a Thunderstone, el tema “Demons” tiene un buen trabajo de guitarras, mientras el tema “Precipice of Man” suenan sintetizadores para luego dar protagonismo a una base  pesada de bajo y batería que es lo mejor de la canción y alternando voces más ásperas  con voces melódicas. Tanto el tema “Baltic Fleet” como el tema “Sunshine” tienen una  batería trallera que te pone las pilas pero que en el cambio de ritmo le quita todo el arte a ambos temas. El tema “Varyag and the Shrike” tiene un ramalazo Power con un  buen punteo y de guitarra y buena batería, para mi el mejor tema. La canción “Sons of  Veles” se inicia en tono bajo, ascendiendo de manera progresiva alternando guitarras y  teclados, tema flojete. 

Durante todo el disco quiero decir que el trabajo del vocalista Eugeniy hace que tenga  un registro de voz muy característico dando lugar a que te encante o directamente lo odies, ya que suena casi en un registro muy lineal. 

Finalmente digo que aunque esté disco no está exento de calidad, resulta para mi opinión algo monótono haciendo que se complique las segundas escuchas. Un saludo.

Red Cain is a progressive metal group based in Calgary (Canada) that began its journey  in 2016 releasing its first full-length album in 2019 with the title “Kindred: Act I”, a  critically-acclaimed album. His influences range from Kamelot, Gojira, After Bridge and  even Depeche Mode.

The CD that we have to review is his second album Kindred: Act II that will be released  on January 22, 2021 under the auspices of Sliptrick Records and that appears as a  continuation of the previous album. This album in a first listen denotes a good work of  drums, synthesizer keyboards and light groove touches in some songs. However, it is  an album that turns dark and in a first listen it is monotonous to me, in successive  listening nuances are discovered.

Thus in the first song “Kindred” keyboards with  Power brushstrokes that reminds me of Thunderstone, the song “Demons” has a good  guitar work, while the song “Precipice of Man” sounds synthesizers to later give  prominence to a heavy base of bass and drums that is the best of the song and  alternating harsher voices with melodic voices. Both the song “Baltic Fleet” and the  song “Sunshine” have a trallera drums that get you going but that in the change of  rhythm takes away all the art from both songs. The song “Varyag and the Shrike” has a  powerful streak with good plucking and guitar and good drums, for me the best song.  The song “Sons of Veles” begins in a low key, progressively ascending alternating  guitars and keyboards, loose theme.  

Throughout the album I want to say that the work of the vocalist Eugeniy makes him  have a very characteristic voice register, leading to whether you love him or hate him,  since it sounds almost in a very linear register. 

Finally, I say that although this album is not without quality, it is, in my opinion,  somewhat monotonous, making second listens more difficult. A greeting.
