English:
Traditional Swedish Heavy Metal band Thundermaker brings us their third studio album from Sliptrick Records going on sale on September 14th. For this he will surround himself with the voices Ronny Munroe (ex Metal Church), Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex Judas Priest, ex Iced Earth, KK Priest), LG Petrov and Rille Larsson (Entombed), with this cast of vocalists the disc promises.
From a statement by Thundermaker: “The Road is an album that is very personal and is about our mental journeys and the awakening of our souls. It is also a story about how we treat and react to the circumstances around us. Every song has a story to tell and there is a red line between all of them as it all comes down to how we deal with relationships in all their forms. The album is mainly written about the spiritual journey and the path with your mirror twin. If you listen carefully to the lyrics, I hope you find them meaningful and inspiring. How it all started, the path we travel together, how we see ourselves and what are our goals. These trips can really make you grow as a person and accomplish wonders where you once doubted yourself. “
Now we go to the album, this begins with “The Road”, a song where heavier riffs are interspersed with faster riffs and where Ronnie strikes at a very good level from the beginning, with keyboards with Moorish tones. It is followed by “Fire Burns Forever” in which its beginning makes a clear nod to the theme “The Ripper” by Judas Priest, making a theme that moves in tessitura that reminds of Black Sabbath and at other times Judas. It is the turn of T. Owens who strikes a beast level. “Broken Promises” track with forceful and heavy riffs very well accompanied at certain moments by the keyboards giving a very beautiful enveloping atmosphere. “A Twin Flame Journey” has a greater presence on drums and keyboards accompanied by a guitar with certain melancholic overtones that take us back to Black Sabbath. “Fake” is a song where heavy guitars accompany Petrov’s voice, which is full of a good guitar solo, for me one of the best songs on the album. “Symbiosis” I love the ridged riffs and where the highs of Rille explode in your head. “The Runner & The Chaser” is a slow song, very accompanied and where “Ripper” returns to the load but totally wasted, some very fast picks that give a touch of color to the song. “Where Sorrow Dwells” begins with a piano soliloquy and where I miss one more point of speed that would make a song show off with details reminiscent of Dio. “1111” is a very linear and slow song for me, and I personally didn’t like it at all. “Mi-Ya” is an instrumental song that takes you out of the boredom of the previous song and that stands out as a good song with very good guitar work.
It is definitely an album that shows 2 parts divided by the theme “Symbiosis” and in which it seems that the second part has a hard time putting up with the quality wasted in the first, immersing you in a bittersweet feeling that leads you to say that it is a Heavy album. Correct classic metal without further ado. Disc for fans of Dio, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath. Well, we will follow this group closely, we will have to see them live. All the best.
