Reseña – review: Human Fortress “Epic Tales & Untold Stories”

Massacre Records quiere celebrar la vuelta a su sello de la banda Human Fortress con un disco que rememora sus 20 años de historia. Y es que esta banda de Power Metal alemán surgió en el boom de este estilo a inicio de los años 2000 junto a otros grupos como Metallium, Galloglass, Heavenly, Dream Evil, Domine, etc… Y es que esta banda tuvo un debut con un buen disco “Lord of Earth and Heavens Heir”, para a continuación lanzar su segundo LP, precisamente con este sello, dando lugar para mí a una de las obras maestras del Power “Defenders of the Crown”. A continuación los distintos problemas en el grupo de distinta índole que llevaron a una entrada y salida de miembros del grupo, junto a la excelsa calidad de su segundo disco, provocó que los 3 discos siguientes no estuvieran a la altura, hasta que en el 2019 una vez engrasada la máquina, lanzaran “The Reign of Gold”, muy buen disco.

Yendo al grano, ¿qué es lo que vamos a encontrar en “Epic Tales & Untold Stories”?, pues un doble CD donde en el primero está formado por 6 temas y 2 remasterizados, dándonos un aperitivo de lo que nos puede ofrecer la banda. En el segundo CD tenemos 15 temas que repasan toda la trayectoria de la banda.

Desgranando el primer CD, este comienza por el tema “The Grimoire” con buenas guitarras y un ligero toque épico pero que no llega a sus primeros discos. El siguiente tema es “Dissappear in The Dark Shadows” en que se queda un tema muy Hard rockero, con una guitarra de fondo que queda chula. En el siguiente tema “Vain Endeavour” tenemos un tema más rápido, con ese ritmo de guitarras tan típico de Human, muy buen tema. “Free” es una balada con violonchelo de fondo donde Gus redondea un buen tema. “Ferweh” es un buen tema, lo único que tiende más a un metal melódico, dejando algo atrás su vertiente más épica. “We Are Legion” es un tema extra que apareció en la reedicion del “Defenders of the Crown”, esta vez cantada por Gus. EQn el tema “Cruel Fantasy” tenemos otro tema con coros muy hard Rockeros, buen punteo de guitarra. Cierra el CD “Pray for Salvation” que es un tema que ya apareció en su disco “Raised Land” en una versión más orquestal.

En el segundo CD encontramos un recopilatorio de su carrera con temazos como “ The Dragons Lies”, “Defenders of the Crown” o “Gladiator of Rome”.

Mi conclusión es que con todo el cariño que le tengo a esta banda, por la avanzadilla parece que sus nuevos temas que no están exentos de calidad, tiran más a temas más melódicos/hard Rockeros que a aquellos temas épicos de sus inicios que me dejaron totalmente anodadado. Les deseo lo mejor, ya que la banda se lo merece. Un saludo.

Then the different problems in the group of different kinds that led to an entry and exit of members of the group, together with the excellent quality of their second album, caused that the following 3 albums were not up to par, until in 2019 once the machine is greased, they will release “The Reign of Gold”, a very good album

Getting to the point, which is what we are going to find in “Epic Tales & Untold Stories”, as a double CD where the first one is made up of 6 songs and 2 remastered songs, giving us an appetizer of what the band can offer us. In the second CD we have 15 songs that review the entire trajectory of the band.

Shelling out the first CD, this one begins with the song “The Grimoire” with good guitars and a slight epic touch but it does not reach his first albums. The next song is “Dissappear in The Dark Shadows” in which it remains a very Hard rock song, with a cool guitar in the background. In the next song “Vain Endeavor” we have a faster song, with that guitar rhythm so typical of Human, a very good song. “Free” is a ballad with cello in the background where Gus rounds out a good song. “Ferweh” is a good song, the only thing that tends more to a melodic metal, leaving something behind its more epic side. “We Are Legion” is a bonus track that appeared on the “Defenders of the Crown” reissue, this time sung by Gus. On the song “Cruel Fantasy” we have another song with very hard rockers choruses, good guitar picking. Close the CD “Pray for Salvation” which is a song that already appeared on his album “Raised Land” in a more orchestral version.

On the second CD we find a compilation of his career with songs like “The Dragons Lies”, “Defenders of the Crown” or “Gladiator of Rome”.

My conclusion is that with all the affection I have for this band, from the outpost it seems that their new songs that are not exempt from quality, are more melodic / hard Rockers than those epic songs from their beginnings that left me totally anodadado.
