Reseña – Review: Mayday Parade “Out Of Here”

Con los chicos de Mayday Parade sucede algo cuanto menos curioso ya que pese a que nunca han llegado a ser tan grandes como quizás sus dos compañeros de profesión surgidos en aquella camada de bandas de pop punk / power pop surgida hace 3 lustros como son All Time Low y Paramore, lo cierto es que musicalmente hablando su carrera ha ido en ascenso musicalmente de manera mucho más interesante y trabajada que la de estas dos bandas mencionadas.

El resto de bandas surgidas alrededor de 2005 no tuvieron la misma suerte que estas tres bandas y es que mientras We The Kings o Forever The Sickest Kids no tienen ni un cuarto de la popularidad que tenían en su momento dorado , de bandas como There For Tomorrow , Boys Like Girls , Farewell , Danger Radio , Cute Is What We Aim For , This Providence , VersaEmerge o The Cab nos acordamos muy poquitos y siendo justos hoy son sólo un recuerdo de otras épocas pasadas y muy añoradas.

Mayday Parade junto a The Maine, quizás sean los dos ejemplos de superación al paso del tiempo y las modas y grandes supervivientes de aquella época.

Pero si somos justos, quizás sea un poco raro decir que este sexto trabajo de la banda sea un EP al uso, ya que se pasa como un suspiro y las tres canciones vuelan casi al momento en que acabas de escucharlas todas.

El primer corte “I Can Only Hope”, es un grito de esperanza en medio de la oscuridad que estamos atravesando , ese estribiilo “I Can Only Hope, That The Bleed Is Over Now” es tan desgarrador como hermoso y recuerde un poco a las obras de gente como Dashboard Confessional o Manchester Orchestra y podría ser tomado como una especie de himno entre los seguidores de la banda para salir adelante y superar cualquier momento dificil que te toque atravesar.

Por el contrario en “Lighten Up Kid”, recuperan el sonido juvenil y pegadizo que tan bien se les ha dado siempre y la canción suena como un cruce imposible entre Jimmy Eat World y The Swellers, y su infeccioso estribillo puede levantarte el ánimo aún sabiendo que has tocado fondo , siempre por mucho que cueste hay una pequeña luz al final del tunel y esta canción serviría para iluminarte hasta en tu día más nublado.

Mientras que el potente riff que inicia “First Train” está al principio acompañado de una sensación de dolorosa tristeza, pero que se transforma en un impulso enorme para escapar y avanzar en lugar de aferrarse al dolor del pasado.

Si somos justos este pequeño pero notable trabajo , suma puntos a la trayectoria de Mayday Parade y nos demuestra que la banda sigue teniendo mano para escribir canciones que aún suenen frescas e interesantes después de tres lustros de trayectoria y si bien va a cambiar el mundo , muy posiblemente si recurres a él en algún momento te sentirás un poquito mejor ya que el optimismo que a veces nos falta , seguramente puedas encontrarlo en estas pequeñas canciones de Mayday Parade.

But if we are fair, perhaps it is a bit weird to say that this sixth album by the band is an EP to use, since it passes like a sigh and the three songs fly almost at the moment when you finish listening to them all.

The first cut “I Can Only Hope”, is a cry of hope in the middle of the darkness that we are going through, that refrain “I Can Only Hope, That The Bleed Is Over Now” is as heartbreaking as it is beautiful and reminds a bit of the works by people like Dashboard Confessional or Manchester Orchestra and could be taken as a kind of anthem among the fans of the band to get ahead and overcome any difficult moment that you have to go through.

On the contrary, in “Lighten Up Kid”, they recover the youthful and catchy sound that they have always been so good at and the song sounds like an impossible cross between Jimmy Eat World and The Swellers, and its infectious chorus can lift your spirits even knowing that you have hit rock bottom, no matter how much it costs there is a small light at the end of the tunnel and this song would serve to illuminate you even on your cloudiest day.

Whereas the powerful riff that begins “First Train” is at first accompanied by a feeling of painful sadness, but which transforms into a huge urge to escape and move on instead of clinging to the pain of the past.

If we are fair, this small but remarkable work adds points to the trajectory of Mayday Parade and shows us that the band still has a hand to write songs that still sound fresh and interesting after three decades of trajectory and although it is going to change the world, quite possibly if you turn to it at some point you will feel a little better since the optimism that we sometimes lack, surely you can find it in these little songs from Mayday Parade.
